There is no place on earth more lovely than an English garden on a summer’s day. Dearest Mistress says there is still much to look forward to, adding that the very best is slowly passing and what nature gives, she can take away.
The garden has been full of people, due to the marvellous article in the RHS magazine “The Garden”. Dead-heading seems to be what we do most of the time, and filling gaps with the annuals cosmos, cleome & tobacco plants, which are great fillers at this time of year. The newly planted Spike Garden where the lovely old cherry yukon stood, has proved a success. We are al thrilled that at long last the white thyme for the Green Knight Garden has arrived, 40 plants, Dearest says she should have put another nought on the end of the order, but that in time it will spread!
All is serene in the summer evenings, with the evanescent voices of our ancestors whispering in the dusk.
